Building My First Website: QuickDecide
Welcome back to Ground Up Hustle! In this post, I’m diving into my first official project: QuickDecide, a simple website that helps users make quick decisions. Think coin flips, spinning wheels, and random movie suggestions—just simple, fun tools that anyone can use when they need a quick answer.
The Idea Behind QuickDecide
Sometimes, the toughest decisions are the small ones: Should I watch a movie or a TV show? Should I pick a random restaurant for lunch? Or maybe it’s just that age-old dilemma—heads or tails? QuickDecide is designed to make these decisions as easy as possible with a range of simple, interactive tools.
Here’s what I plan to include in the first version of the site:
- Coin Flip: Classic heads or tails.
- Spin the Wheel: Customize the wheel with your own options and spin it to decide.
- Random Movie/Series Picker: Can't decide what to watch? Let QuickDecide choose a movie or series for you at random.
At first, the site will be minimalist, focused on functionality, and easy navigation. The goal is to keep it simple and user-friendly while testing the waters of online business.
Monetising QuickDecide
As I mentioned in my first post, Ground Up Hustle is all about generating revenue through small projects while documenting everything. With QuickDecide, I’m going to be monetizing it with a simple ad model. No pop-ups or intrusive ads—just small banners here and there to keep it clean and user-friendly. The plan is to start small and focus on user experience. The goal is to generate some revenue that I can reinvest into future projects. Even a few pounds here and there will add up over time, especially as I continue to scale things.
Starting from Scratch: Funding the Project
Since I’m starting from literally nothing, the first step is to get the domain and hosting for QuickDecide. I’m not using any external funding or big investments, so I’ll be completing surveys and small online tasks to earn enough to pay for the domain and hosting. This is how I’m going to fund my very first step into the world of online business.
It’s a humble beginning, but that’s exactly what makes it powerful. I’ll document my progress in the coming weeks, showing how I got the domain, launched the site, and set everything up using only what I earn from these small tasks. It’s going to be a challenge, but that’s the point—it’s about proving that you can start from scratch and hustle your way to success.
The Long-Term Vision for QuickDecide
While QuickDecide is just a small site right now, the long-term vision is to make it more interactive and engaging. Once it starts generating some revenue, I’ll reinvest it into adding new features like:
- More Random Decision Makers: Tools like "Pick a Random Song," "Choose a Random Gift Idea," or even a "Random Joke Generator" to keep things fresh and fun.
- Customization: Let users create their own decision-making tools, like custom wheels for events or party planning.
- User Accounts: Adding a feature where people can save their favorite decisions or tools for future use.
- Mobile App: Eventually, QuickDecide will be turned into a simple mobile app for on-the-go decision-making.
The Process and the Hustle
As I build QuickDecide, I’ll be documenting every step of the process. From completing surveys to fund the project, to designing the website, adding features, and tracking the revenue, this blog will keep you updated on the progress. Expect to see updates on:
- How I design the website (starting with something simple and scaling up).
- My traffic and user engagement.
- The small challenges I’ll face (and how I overcome them).
- How I track and optimise the revenue from ads.
The goal isn’t just to make money with QuickDecide—it’s about learning and growing with every step. This is how I’ll continue to move closer to financial freedom: building projects from the ground up and constantly reinvesting in myself and my hustle.
What’s Next?
So, what’s the next step in this journey? It’s time to start working on QuickDecide. I’ll be researching domains, setting up hosting, and launching the site, all while tracking my progress and sharing everything here. I’ll also be working on setting up small ad placements and figuring out how I can drive traffic to the site with no initial budget.
Starting small, but thinking big. That’s the game plan.
